Durga Puja is celebrated during the last five days of Navaratri and Dssehra. The Durga idols are then carried out in grand procession and immersed in the river or other water bodies.
- In 2014, Durga Puja dates are September 29-October 4.
- In 2015, Durga Puja dates are October 18-23.
- In 2016, Durga Puja dates are October 7-11.
Another notable date, before the start of Durja Puja, is Mahalaya. On this day, Goddess Durga is invited to come to the earth, and the eyes are drawn on the idols of the Goddess. In 2014, it falls on September 23.
