This year the festival of Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on 10th August. Full moon on the morning of 10th August, will be the beginning of this festival. But Bhadra will remain till 13:38. As per the scriptures, it would be nice if this festival is celebrated after 13:38. But under some circumstances, if you have to do this work during the Bhadra kaal then you must do it during the Bhadra Puch kaal rather than in of Bhadra Mukh kaal. If it is very necessary then you can do this work in the Bhadra Puch kaal on 10th August that is between 10:07 to 11:07..

Normally in north India like in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana etc. the auspicious act of tying Rakhi is started from morning itself. If under some circumstances a person needs to tie Rakhi in Bhadra time, then leaving the Bhadra Mukh time this act should be performed in Bhadra Puch(tail) time. As per the scriptures, performing a work in ending period of Bhadra time, gives victory and completion of work. But, this time is used for auspicious work under specific circumstances.

Bhadra time will stay from 27:36 to 13;38 on 10 August 2014. This day, during this time, tying of Rakhi to brother is considered unsuitable.

On 10 August 2014, Bhadra Mukh kal will stay from 11:07 to 12:48. So this Bhadra Mukh time period should be avoided. Bhadra Puch(tail) kal will stay from 10:07 to 11:07. Tying of Rakhi can be performed in this time period of Bhadra Puch kal.

रक्षाबंधन अक्सर भद्रा रहित समय में मनाया जाना चाहिए, भद्रा काल में राखी का त्योहार मनाना शुभ फलदायी नहीं होता है। भद्रा के दौरान विवाह, मुंडन, गृह प्रवेश, रक्षाबंधन और होलिका दहन करना निषेध माना गया है।
शुभ समय : 10 अगस्त को सुबह से लेकर 1.38 मिनट तक भद्रा काल है। इसके बाद राखी त्योहार मनाना शुभ फलदायी होगा। रविवार का दिन होने के कारण 4.30 से 6 बजे तक राहु काल रहेगा। इसलिए इस समय के बाद भी राखी का त्योहार मनाने से बचना अच्छा होगा। शाम 6.30 से 7.30 तक शुभ और 7.30 से रात 9 बजे तक अमृत का चौघडिया रहेगा। चर के चौघडिया में भी रात 9 से 10.30 बजे तक रक्षासूत्र बांधा जा सकेगा।
